11. Which of the following is not considered a function of the kidneys?
A. Secretion
B. Reabsorption
C. Transport
D. Filtration

Why is the answer C and not A? I thought the kidneys transport wastes from the nephrons to the bladder. Also, what is it that the kidneys secrete?

The kidneys secrete urea which is filtered out.

This is a confusing question just because of the answer choices, but C is definitely the best answer.

A, B , and D are exactly kidneys functions.

I think secretion is done thru urethra via ureters thus i think A is not the answer. but I would they absorb nutrients so why could B not be an option as well?

I made exactly the same mistake when I went over this Q.But,remember, kidney secrete erythropoeitin which increases the production of RBC in bone marrow. So this way it make sense to assume that kidney has a secretion role.

Filtration occurs in the bowmens capsule where the glomerous is found, it basically filters out the big molecules such as proteins and RBC while letting glucose, aa, and ions pass through...

secretion in the kidney refers to its ability to secrete ions and molecules such as glucose and aa from the proximal convoluted tubule...

Reabsorption happens at the loop of henle and the collecting ducts, it refers to reabsorbption of water...

Helloooo what about one of the most imp enzyme renin? secreted by whatt???

yea alright i see what your saying, in that sense the question sucks @ss, should be asked what is the function of excretion in the kidneys....
