I spoke with a pre-PT adviser at a pretty well known state school and she informed me that I would need to take the following sequence: Bio I-->Bio II-->Cell Biology-->Anatomy-->Physiology.

Putting me at a minimum of 5 semesters!

I'm not sure if I have the time or money to spend 2 years on pre-reqs full-time. Is this typical for most schools to require the Bio I/II as pre-reqs for A&P?

I've never heard of a Bio sequence being necessary for A&P. I didn't take Bio II or Cell Bio and it wasn't an issue for taking A&P, or obtaining acceptances to PT school.

My school requires Bio 1&2 and Chem 1&2 as prereqs for the combined A&P. Bio 1 is the prereq for the the separate Anatomy and Physiology classes. I guess it depends on the school.

I don't know why she suggested Cell Bio as a prereq though. That's unusual.

I've been to three different universities over the years, and none of them ever had a prereq for A and P. I know some schools do, but I'm surprised by that many. Is that how the course is listed in the course catalog? Sometimes you have advisers who confuse recommended or common course sequences for the way things have to be done. Are there other schools nearby that would let you knock out those classes in a more sensible order?

She was giving me advice specific to doing both the pre-reqs and the DPT program at her school.

I guess I need to take that with a grain of salt and look to see if nearby schools have less stringent requirements.

It depends on the school. At one school I attended many years ago I didn't need anything to take A&P. At my current school they only require Bio I.
