I'm a rising senior and have completed all my pre-reqs except for general bio lab. At my school, general biology is split into Bio I (3 credits), Bio II (3 credits) and Bio Lab (2 credits).

The bio lab at my school is considered a joke and is taken by primarily freshman (it's also pretty much a guaranteed A/A+). Since I'm a bio major (and have taken other bio lab classes like genetics lab), would it be ok if I didn't take general bio lab? The lab conflicts with an advanced physiology course that I'm interested in.

I've already taken many upper level bio classes like biochem, microbio, physiology etc. and have authored a research publication. Even my advisor has said that the intro bio lab course would be a waste of time for me. My question is, should I take the lab just to be on the safe side?

Some schools may let you substitute the requirement with your advanced labwork/coursework, but some may not. You could look into schools you are interested in and see what their policies are. I would probably just take it in case, especially if it's an easy A.

Besides possibly taking the lab class at your school, you could also consider:
1) only applying to schools that don't require a year of Bio Lab,
2) petitioning each school you apply to about substituting another lab for Bio Lab (with mixed responses), or
3) taking Bio Lab at a nearby Community College.
