Hi All,

I have studied Bio only from the DAT Destroyer. Will that be enough? I'm giving my DAT very soon and don't have enough time so will doing Bio only from the Destroyer help?

Also, how good is the Chemistry part of the Destroyer? And where are you guys studying the PAT from?

Thanks so much!
Sumi

It's not a good idea to just stick to one book to study for the biology section. Use other books to supplement Destroyer. I recommend Cliffs AP biology, MCAT Exam Krackers for Bio (good for the systems like nervous, digestive, etc), Barron's AP biology, and Kaplan.

I am studying the PAT from Crack the PAT software.

How much time are we talking about...because there's no point in rushing it if you can't prepare...for the PAT i used crack dat pat, it helped a lot...for bio i suggest kaplan, your bio textbook and barron, destroyers is good but it covers bits and pieces of different bio topics... also if you can take practice tests: dat achievers and scholarware....hope this helps n good luck 🙂

In my opinion, Bio in Destroyer is not even close to being enough if thats your only source. You really do need the background for bio to be able to understand all the conceptual stuff and not just regurgitate facts. I only found Destroyer useful for Gchem and Ochem.

I agree, you def should pick up ap cliffs. Destroyer bio is good for reinforcing certain facts, but other than that bio is too hard to cover with 1 source.

i would say that you can get like a 17 or 18 using only destroyer, but there are too many odd questions on the DAT to use just a question and answer tutorial. You would need a book like cliffs. which is short and easy to read, as a supplement to the destroyer. That being said, dont neglect destroyer because it has many oddball questions and many of them oten show up on the DAT. It is an imperative study material, but cannot be relied on by itself for DAT bio which is way to broad.

No way destroyer covers more odd ball questions and less general concepts.

Get the kaplan white book or at least cliffs AP bio.....if you do one of those combined with the oddball (esp later questions) in destroyer your in much better shape.

Never bank on 1 resource alone....also practice tests are needed any questions you miss odds are your weak in that area. Use wikipedia to study in detail areas where you miss questions often.

Most of the questions on the DAT are general questions if you know ALL the general information your looking at a 18 or 19. So shoot for the spread first and get an overall resource guide.

Good overalls:
Kaplan White Book
Cliffs AP bio
(heard great things about schums but I didn't use)
Wikipedia (for extra depth in weak areas)
Your bio textbook

If you have a great background in bio then you are in good shape...as in you just took Bio A and B and scores A+s in them. Otherwise, prepare for a low score.
good luck
