At UF, they accept Zoology and Botany instead of Bio I & II. In my opinion, they are much more difficult courses. Botany was my hardest undergrad class.

In my Zoo class, we used the same book as the BIO I &II class. The botany book was quite thick....and went much more in depth about plants than Bio 1 or 2 would..
I was in the Department of Agriculture, so they reccommended Zoo & Bot instead of Bio 1,2 because you get more focus in plants with only slightly less in animals..
Like the others said...it depends on the school. I have a Biology degree, which tends to make my transcript a bit cluttered in search of "specific" pre-recs. One of the esteemed schools I applied to contacted me last week asking if I had completed my American History requirement. It's all in the many transcripts I sent(JC's,Universities and CLEP). I guess it was an oversight. I mean, I literally had to go through my transcripts with them class by class and dictate the equivalent course at their fine university. Perhaps too many transcripts is a hinderance for my admission. I sure hope not.
Bottom line, BUG the schools. Get specific and ask for an email or a written statement and include it in you application. Make it simple for them so they don't have to do any "extra" work to figure you out. DO NOT assume ANY appropriate interpretation of your hard work.
I know that some of the schools I'm applying to specifically say that Zoology and Botany do not count toward the Bio I/II requirements, so I would check with each school individually.
