The answer said that it was D but I picked B.

This question deals with DNA synthesis and asks for what RNA would come off it but it only says that "a segment of DNA" has the sequence and does not specify whether or not it is the leading strand or the lagging strand. If the leading strand had the sequence specified than the answer would be D but if the lagging strand had the sequence specified than the answer would be B.

I guess my REAL question here are the questions on the DAT in itself really that vague.

Should I just always assume the sequence is coming from the leading strand?

I've taken the DAT twice now and don't recall a vague or confusing question like the one you are describing. It would help if you typed the whole question.

He's technically not allowed to type the whole question, which is probably why he did it the way he did. I think this is probably better left for users that have destroyer and can read the question themselves.

Maybe you're reading into the question too much. It just says if the DNA segment has this sequence, what would the mRNA sequence be? So whether it's the lagging or leading strand, you'd still read it 5' to 3' right?
