1. CO2 + H2O --> C6H12O6 + O2
the above reaction is catalyzed by
a. light
b. ADP
c. CO2
d. chlorophyll
e. none of the above

-> answer is B. do you understand that? chlorophyll is just where this reaction accurs. can it be catalyst?

2. the membrane that junctions in respiration in the embryo is the
a. amnion
b. allantois
c. chorion
d. umbilical cord
e. yolk sac

--> answer is b, but why not c? O2 and CO2 are exchanged on the surface of the chorion. isn't it respiration?

Ippie,

For question 1, i believe that ADP in noncyclic and cyclic photophosphorylation is reduced to ATP. Without this commitment step, the dark reactions cannot ultimately occur.

For question 2, the keyword here is "junction". The chorion is the location of gas and nutrient exchange, but the allantois, which later becomes the umbilical cord, is the junction between embryo and chorion. Don't like that question either.
