What is the smallest passageways of the lungs??

Thanks. But I thought the smallest passage would be alveoli, since they branch off from bronchioles.

are the alveoli a passageway?
i could make an arguement for and against.

For: They are a passage from rest of lungs to blood.

On the other hand, they could mean it more literally and only bronchioles would be the smallest passageway.

When I think alveoli I think little balls where the exchange occurs but not as a passageway. So I would go with Bronchioles

I gotta agree with oclur ion this one. Alveoli dont feel like passages to me, they feel more like chambers.
