correct answer is b) placenta
but why not umbilical cord?

The answer is placenta because that is where the blood is oxygenated for the baby..so this is was nourishes it. The umbilical cord is the connection between the fetus and the placenta. Hope that helps!

Agreed, the placenta is where nourishment occurs, but not because of the oxygen. It also gains nutrients through passive and active transport. The umbilical cord does connect the fetus and the placenta though, but has the main function to supply blood flow. so i dont think ladnaania is totally correct, but I could be wrong

What I meant was oxygen exchange was part of what nourishes the baby...so that's why the answer is the placenta not umbilical cord. The placenta also plays a role in exhange of nutrients, gases and antibodies between the mother and embryo.

also remember that IgG I think is the only antibody that can cross the membrane though. Probably way too specific for the DAT but you never know.
