Hello guys,

I wanted to clearfy two problems from the destroyer.
1. An egg cell contain?
(a) 23 chromosomes, 46 chromatids
(b) 23 chromosomes, 23 chromatids.
etc
should the answer be a? 46 chromatids?

2. I am getting little bit thrown away by the wording.
"CO2 is the most abundant metabolic wate product" - from destroyer
"Nitrogen forms a major wate product in animals" - Cliff Note
Can some one please explain the difference between these two?

Thank you

isn't the answer for #1 a? becuz 2 chromatids combine together to form 1 chromosme?

An egg cell is the product of meiosis in humans so naturally it should have half the chromosome number of a normal diploid human (2n = 46, n=23). As for the chromatid count, the cell is not undergoing division so the chromosomes are not replicated so there's only one chromatid per chromosome.

As for the second question, it says "metabolism" in general, which is the breakdown of complex polymers to waste products in cellular metabolism. This can mean waste from respiration, glysolysis, krebs cycle, etc. The animal excretes way more CO2 by breathing than urea from digestion..
