1. what are the other choices. ectoderm = NS, eye, skin
2. medulla
3. osmoregulators.. albumin might be a stretch
4. k = at carrying capacity, so id guess (b)

I agree with 'Lonely Sol's answers.

ANYWAY,
Are the functions of pons the same as Medulla?

i need explanations
thanks.

1. Which is derived from the ectoderm?
a. adrenal medulla
b. iliac vein

--For this one, it requires a little bit of thinking. First, you need toknow what adrenal medulla produces (catecholamine), which aid in nervous system. Since you know it is involved with nervous system and you should know that nervous system is derived from ectoderm. Therefore, adrenal medulla is derived from ectoderm. However, remember that adrenal cortex is derived from mesoderm.

2. Which regulates heart rate?
a. hypothalamus
b. pons
c. thalamus

--Well, you know from texts that medulla oblongata controlls heart rate, but thats only the only thing that controlls it. Pons aid in the process by Aiding in relaying messages in the brain, and contains the pneumotaxic centres that help regulate respiration.

3. Which help reguate blood pressure?
a. albumins
b. fibrinogens
c. globulins

--Well, for this one, you have to know the functions of each. Albumin is produced in the liver. They are basically types of water-soluble proteins, which circulates in the blood. The main thing you need to know is that if there is low albumin concentratrion then less fluid is abdorbed back into the venule end of the capillary, causing a decrease in blood pressure.

4. Which does NOT describe r-selected species?
a. tends to stay below carrying capacity
b. occurs more often in stable environment

--This one is easy because, r-selected occurs in unstable environment, and K-selected ussually occurs in stable environment. R-selected species usually have many offspring and less parental care, example: fish. K-selected are vice versa, example:humans.
