Bio [Rain Shadow]

When you mentioned rain shadow. I thought it relates the location of oceans and mountains.

For an example, in the Pacific Northwest where wind blowing off the Pacific Ocean is forced to rise over coastal mountains. As the wind rises on the western or windward side of the mountain, it cools making it unable to hold moisture, so it rains.

I would think most "DESERTS" occur in these areas of the mountain!

Hope I am still sharp!..🙂🙂
This is a good review!

Rain shadows occur when you have a mountain or high elevation in an area of constant elevation. For example, take a large mountain. The windward side of the mountain faces the wind. A traveling thunderstorm when will build strength across the land sucking up moisture, however when it hits the windward side of the mountain, the storm rises, and lets loose its contents. On the other side of the mountain, the leeward side, the storm is essentially diminished and very little rainfall occurs. This is called the rain-shadow. Hope that helps.

Is this a stand alone topic or does this relate to other topics? Last year I got asked a similar questions and want to make sure I understand other type of questions relation to this one. Is this a particular area of biology I can brush up on?

lol I was wondering about this question to. I wasn't going to talk about it since it was an actual question, but since the cat's out of the bag, what do you think the actual answer is? I totally had no idea. I guess living in sea-level florida has its downfalls. Where the hell are the questions representing swamps?! I'd ace those!
