They are used in electron transport chains to carry the electrons. Plastoquinone and cytochrome are in photosynthesis. Not too sure if ubiquinone is only in respiration?

ubiquinone is also known as Co-enzyme Q10 is involved in Eurkaryotic Electron transport along with Cytochromes involved in energy formation while the electrons pass thru these molecules they carry and transport electrons in the final step of electron transport chain and act as powerhouses to allow for energy formation.

Plastoquinone- Found in plants. Type of quinone, a molecular compound made of aromatics. I forget the specifics of its function or pathway, but is involved in the ETC of light dependent rxns
Ubiquinone- as said above, co-enzyme involved in aerobic respiration, specifically the ETC. Generates energy in the form of ATP.
Cytochrome- proteins with heme groups (hemoproteins) Essential for performing redox reactions (oxidation and reduction) during the ETC
Ubiquinone and Cytochrome are involved in fairly complex pathways, which you learn in biochem. Such pathways are not required knowledge by the DAT
