Hey there,

Anyone selling a gently loved indirect ophthalmoscope or know where someone can get one for a reasonable price. The reps were quoting us $2000 and that's a little steep.

I know they make ****ty ones and some unheard of companies are out there. But I'm looking for a reputable brand. I've seen past threads on the topic, but they are from a few years ago.

If you are selling your personal one, please PM me.

Keeler and Heine will cost you if new, especially the wireless LED models. Your best new deal will be a spectacle indirect, which if you are a med student or resident would be best. You aren't setting up a permanent eye lane and if you are accepted as a resident would be easiest to carry on call. Otherwise, look for a used Heine 150 or 180 off eBay and use a rechargeable mPack battery pack. Another option, new would be a Welch-Allyn or a Propper. Propper has the lowest prices I have seen for an LED unit, and they appear to be a clone of the Heine 180, optics-wise.

Excellent choice. You will never replace a bulb (although amazingly, I have never had to on my old Heine 150 which went fine for years.) The Omega 500 is a fine piece of gear. Congratulations.

Thanks! Despite my pocketbook's cries, I'm super excited 🙂
