Hey guys, I'm attempting to register for biochem but I'm having a small problem, I noticed that the Biochem offered at the campus I'm currently attending is "Principles of Biochemistry" (BCH 361) while the the biochems offered at the other campuses are "General Biochemistry" (BCH 461), would the first class fulfill the biochem pre req or am I going to have to truck it for 1 hour and half to another campus to take the class? One thing it does mention though is that I can only get credit for one class between the two, which isn't typical of introductory classes which is why I'm scratching my head right now.

As long as it fulfills the required number of credits, then you're fine. Biochemistry is biochemistry.

Talk to your counselor for sure. If they were the same like the guy above says they would be the same class but obviously they are not, I hope I am wrong for your sake. Don't be lazy, walk in and talk to your counselor or pre-med counselor at your school.

As long as the Principles class has a description that states its an intro level course to biochem and describes things in detail its good. Just make sure its a class for science majors. If its a non-science major class then it might be a problem.

Shaz do you go to ASU?? Lol

Looks like it from previous posts. OP, my vote is the you're fine with 361. Ask Pre-health if you want to be positive. (It's on their site somewhere I think too). And even double-check with local accepted pre-dents. If you're on main, the real question is if you should consider taking it elsewhere to avoid a terrible time with how it's taught.

Yea, I go to ASU. That's great news! Thanks mbkin7!

Rather than make a new thread, is the Biochem *lab* a requirement for any dental schools? It seems as if most of them don't require lab but I would rather ask and be 100% certain than being wrong and having to take it later.

Only lab class my class schedule fits is at night so if I could avoid taking it, that would be amazing.

I don't know of any school that requires biochem lab.

Also, i go to ASU too... and i knew several previous predents who took 361 and fulfilled the prereq!
