Hi, can anyone please explain this problem to me? My exam is in 3 days and I'm going through old exams and this problem has stumped me!

What's the H+ ion concentration of a soluntion with a pH of 5.7?

I know the ph=-logH equation but the answer is given as 2x10^-5???
 
The power comes to 10^-6 for me.

5.7 = -log(H+)
log(H+) = -5.7
H+ = 10^-5.7
H+ = (10^-6)*(10^0.3)

Now, 10^0.333.. =~ 2.x
so, 10^0.3 should be < 2.x

so, H+ =~ 2.x*(10^-6) =~ 2*10^-6

hopefully with that attitude you won't be "make it". Sorry some of us get a little confused when we're studying 10 hours a day and need help sometimes... forgive us "pre-dent"
