In the epithelium of the ciliary body, when B2 adrenergic stimulation activates cAMP through a Gs protein, is the Na/K atpase inhibited, causing a depolarization of the membrane?

Luv,
eyegirl

ewww pharm...

I remember Gs activates cAMP , but I'll look up the Na/K ATPase..

okay.. here it is directly off my flow chart from pharm.

Gs activates Adenylate cyclase -- which increases cAMP concentration -- which increases protein kinase activity --- which INCREASES channel phosphorylation -- which alters the properties of the ion channel -- which alters the charge distribution across the membrane.

hope this helps... good luck with pharm!!

Dear cpw and eyegirl,

I am on vacation until next Monday. I have nothing to study because I'm between quarters, and frankly I can't even remember where my school is right now.

😀

(Feel free to mock me when you're on semester break and I'm in school. 🙂 )
