I am trying to figure out how to study biochemistry for the Step 1. I started reading Lippincott’s Biochem book, but have been told that it is too detailed. Someone told me that I should memorize 15 pathways and supplement with FA. Are things like specific amino acids important? Anyone know which pathways would be best to focus on? Or should I just go back to reading Lippincott’s book or get HY Biochem or HY Cell and Molecular Bioloy? Or any other random suggestions or resources that might be better? Thanks so much.

HY is a good book if you have a good biochem knowledge

I second HY biochem. I think it's better to use HY Biochem with HY Cell and Molecular Bio than to try to get through Lippincotts.

All (or 95%) of the biochem questions on qbank are clinically oriented. If you know the clinical details from First Aid you will be fine. If you are still worried, use HY. You dont need more than that. Any more is just excess detail.
