How similar/related would degrees in Biochemistry and Computer Science be considered? Are they regarded as similar like Chemistry and Physics are similar? Or are they regarded as different like Chemistry and Philosophy are different? Thanks.

They are somewhat different, unless you're interested in bioinformatics.

I'm a bit confused about what you're asking.

Are you asking if you can double major? Should? How does this have bearing on being a pre-med?

I wouldn't recommend double majoring C.S. with anything but math if that's your aim; especially if you're pre-med. C.S. is already time consuming as is, with a lot more upper division classes than your standard major. However, at least in my mind, C.S. is a very impressive major for a pre-med student.

The only cross-over would be introductory calculus. Biochem + CS as a pre-med (aiming for a 3.5+ GPA plus engaging in extra-curricular activities) = no life and sleep.

Actually, I've already graduated with my BS in biochem, and I was thinking about getting an MS in CS before applying to med school.

M.S. in Bioinformatics would be the better option for you then.

I've always been interested in CS, and I'd like to try exploring a field different from biology or chemistry. I was just wondering how med schools would perceive CS, as if I'm not mistaken, they favor applicants with degrees in considerably different disciplines?

That might be true to a certain extent, but I think your time would be better spent doing something else. It's unlikely to help your medical career unless you want to do some sort research. Also, if you don't have prior coding/programming experience, you might find that CS isn't as fun as you previously thought.

I did bio and comp sci

in classwork there was little overlap however in the real world particularly research it was very compatable. It also came up in most of my interviews
