Hello everyone

I am doing very bad in biochemistry. Over thanksgiving I would like to study biochem, can any of you suggest a book that would be helpful. I hear Lippincott is a good book. I am not studying for boards or anything, this is just so I can get through the biochem course here at the dental school. Do you have any other suggestions or any advice? (I have no biochem background). This semester we are mostly covering genetics. Your help will be much appreciated.

Thank you,

A boards review book might actually be very helpful. Usually the information in those are condensed, easy to understand, overarching concepts, which are the hardest parts of biochem to grasp.

Get those, memorize the pathways and you'll be set to get A's.

Have you tried discussing your situation with your professor? The faculty or administration at your school could probably set you up with a tutor, often at no cost to you. Just another option if you needed more help.

Get a tutor would be my advice too.

Also, does your school have a noteservice? I don't even bother writing notes anymore (or even going to half my classes) because the transcripts that the med students are forced to write are good enough. They basically summarize the professor's entire speech.

I would try to talking to the prof as well as students in the years ahead about what they did. Yes you can memorize and understand everything but it might still not be enough for your instructor. Like here, you can study for a week straight, know every pathway and understand all of the ridiculous information he presents and you'd still be lucky to pass.

Thank you for your responses. I have talked to the prof. and I also have a tutor but I was hoping if you guys could point me to a certain book.

Thank you,
