Biochemistry NBME Shelf

I saw a thread about the biochemistry shelf exam in allo and I was wondering if anyone takes first year subject specific shelf exams to prepare for the boards (I'm already taking three for my second year classes). I took the biochem shelf first year and did (very) poorly and since my school offers it, I may be able to take it again this year, about 2 weeks into my boards prep. Is that good preparation or just plain crazy?
