Biochemistry online?

Hey guys, Im thinking about taking an online biochemistry class because a few schools im applying to require it. I know that UNECOM offers it Online. I know a few people here must have taken the class and im wondering how is the class? Is the class hard? any comments and suggestions are welcomed. thanks

Awesome class. I recommend it to anyone going to medical school. The class uses the same textbook that is used at several of the osteopathic schools.

What biochem text do they use out of curiosity. I did my undergrad in BC and have a few good ones, wondering if i wont have to buy another. 🙂

I did the UNECOM medical biochem class. I thought it was very good. It was not a typical online class, as nothing was really online. It's really just a distance class. They send a series of DVDs of the lectures that you watch, and take practice tests. Then you need to go to a testing center to take the final, which constitutes 100% of your grade. It is really medically focused, so I think that it will help me immensely when we get to some actual biochem stuff in our cases. PM me if you have any questions.

They use Mark's Basic Medical Biochem, which is the required book for LECOM at least, and they give it to you, so if anyone is interested in taking the class don't buy the book.

First off, I havent taken it online but I can tell you it wont show up as "online" on your transcript. Im 110% positive. The only thing that would raise eyebrows is if they know the school you took it from offers online biochemistry. Im not saying anything is wrong with that but just saying thats the only way they would know...

I forgot to say that yes, the class is hard! But, they say that the tests are similar to questions that you will see on the boards, and the final is curved. I actually emailed the professor after I took the final because I thought I failed it, and ended up with a B, so be prepared.
