I'm trying to decide between a biology major or a biochemistry major...if anybody whose taken either of these could give me some insight that'd be awesome. I don't really care for ecology courses and the such. I'm more into genetics and that type of things. I think biochem might be interesting though because it also seems to add a math aspect to the major, and I'm pretty good at math...

I am currently a Biology major, and i can honestly say that i did not enjoy the math aspect associated with chemistry (I hated calc). But, i'm taking biochem right now, and it is very interesting. If you can handle the courseload i say go for it. Both are great majors, and i'm assuming you are either a freshman or sophomore. You probably wouldn't take a biochem course until your junior year, so take a chemistry course and a biology course. Alot of genetics is biology based (heredity, meiosis), while biochem is more concerned with signal transduction, dna/rna, protein synth...etc... Good luck, you can't go wrong with either of them..

it all depends on your interests and that if you feel that you will use all that extra chemistry later on in your life. honestly, a minor in biology and some interesting upper level bio courses would totally satisfy the requirement. being a bio major gives you the advantage of taking more indept look into biological systems and better prepares you for DAT (since you have ecology, evolotion genetics, plant bio, human bio.... on DAT). A major in Biochem affords you the edge of conducting research later on if you choose to.
more important that these, you want to make sure that you keep your GPA high, so pick an easy rout!
