I'm getting ready to start reviewing for Biochem. I have heard that the Kaplan Biochem book is the best in the set. I have 7 weeks left until my test date so there is ample time to read it but I have heard that FA and Q bank is all you need for the questions on Step 1. I was really hoping to use this time to do as many questions of qbank as possible. Can anyone give me any advice on this subject?

I have read the Kaplan physio, behavioral book and the Goljan path book he gives his kaplan students. I was hoping to just do questions now and memorize as much First aid as possible.

Any advice would be great.
Thanks

I'm in the same boat... Agree wholeheartedly on Kaplan BCHEM, Physio, and Behavioral along with Goljan Path. I'm relying on FA for micro (stong background), pharm and anatomy. Don't know if you know this but theres an excel file out there that has the entire FA in Q&A format and it really is a fresh way of reviewing FA, since FA's format can get kind of monotonous and difficult at times. Highly recommended for the Pharm section, since u can quiz yourself easily without peaking at answers, etc. Check doctok or valuemd or some other sites to see if you can find the excel file. Hope that helps

Are you talking about the flash cards for FA (2004) ??

You can buy it on ebay.
But, don`t know how good it is.

Thanks. I just brought it on ebay. Let's see if it is good. 🙂

Please post what you think of the First Aid flashcards. While I will definitely use the book itself, I find that I learn much better from doing questions and this seems like it could be a great source (of course on top of Qbank, etc)

Sorry I haven't checked back here for a day or two but i got a bunch of PMs asking me for the Q/A file... I'm sorry but all i have is a printed out hard-copy of the Pharm section of it that I had used last semester for my Pharm class. People on other forums (valuemd) have suggested that they've been using it, and someone just mentioned that they found it on ebay, so try out those places to see if one can find it. Hope that helps. Sorry once again for the delay..Good luck to everyone in their studying!

Here is the link to the online FA flashcards. You have to create an account and then go to step 1/step 2 quizzes.

http://stepprep.com/index.php
thank you very much...I checked it out and that site definitely contains a free version of what seems to be the exact set of flashcard questions that is offered for $$ on ebay and other sources

For biochem all you need to know is the disease manifestations of the biochemistry. Dont bother trying to understand and memorize all of the pathways. That will get you very few points. Just know the key points for the various diseases.

hey just wondering if you guys could direct me to the free version of the FA flashcards...can't seem to find them on the website listed above. thanks!

yeah, i did that but then when i log in all i find this link to a website that charges you 97 dollars for flashcards...it this link hidden somewhere? thanks for your help!
