Biology Classification Question

I'm looking at an older Kaplan book and Cliffs AP 3rd edition and am curious what system is used on the DAT. Cliffs has Domain Archaea, Domain Bacteria, Domain Eukarya then list kindoms, whereas Kaplan seems to skip domains entirely and start with Kingdom Monera and Kingdom Protista. Isnt Kingdom Monera the old school version of classification or am I wrong?
