Hi everybody,

I am starting Penn's special science program in the fall after completing my undergrad and core bcpm courses a decade ago. On their advice I am retaking chemistry (grades ranging from a C+ to B+) because it is a lot of info and I can improve but not Biology since I was an A student.

In anticipation of taking upper level Biology courses and also the MCATs next Spring/Summer, I was told to review first year Biology on my own using Campbell and Reece's 6th Edition Biology textbook. Does anyone have a syllabus from a very good intro Biology course that used this text? I have worked through the first two units (over 200 pages) but I don't want to waste time working through too many chapters that are tangental.

If you have any specific guidance, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Hey! Since I took general biology a few years ago, I picked up Campbell's 6th edition text. There is a 7th, but come on, how much has biology changed since the last edition ? What I did was buy EK's Biology study guide at amazon.com (using SDN links) and use it a guideline for what I must review. The Campbell text goes into greater detail, and can clear some things that are vague in the EK Biology guide. There are some things you definitely don't need to review, like the chapters on photosynthesis! I really, really like the Campbell text! Good luck!
