Hello

My question is it just enough to take the biology pre reqs? That is taking the general biology classes. The reason I ask this is that I'm a non science major and I don't know if admissions will put a mark against this.

Thank you!

It will not be held against you to only take the pre reqs. They are the pre reqs for a reason. You do not need to take additional classes unless you want to.

A few schools recommend non-science majors take advanced coursework in the sciences, particularly in biology. I don't know how much it affects your chances at admission, but at one interview I was asked why I didn't have any advanced science courses.
It was a closed file interview so he didn't see my (high) grades, so that might have been why he was asking me that question. (I actually had been taking an advanced biology course, but completely forgot about it.)

👍

It's also worth noting that some medical schools require you to take a semester of biochemistry. The good news is that the majority of medical schools only ask for the typical two semesters of General Biology (GB I & II). In short, it varies, so make sure to check your schools' website.
