Well you have 2 chromatid per chromosome so the answer would be 36 x 2 = 72 chromatid and prophase I is the start of cell division of sex chromosomes. However, in Prophase I (the first phase) cells have yet to undergo division. Therefore the answer is 72. That is how I would approach what is the answer?

it depends on when it started...
is it at g1 or at s or g2 or any place later...
if it is at g1 then it is gonna be 72 chromosomes so 144 chromatids...
since during s stage it will replicate...
if at s2 or g2 then it is 72...it stays the same 36 chromosomes....
