Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to read through my question! I'm a pre-dental student applying this year, the 2012-2013 cycle.

I've taken one Bio course (1 semester) at my school, which is a 4 year undergraduate institution, and then went on to take around 6 upperlevel biology classes in Systems Biology, Genetics, Biophysics, Biochemistry, etc.

In high school, I took classes at my local community college - I know that these aren't acceptable at some institutions, though!

So my question is, will those upper level courses count? Or should I take anatomy/zoology next year as well? I'm applying this June - will this affect anything?

Additionally, I've done okay in other classes, (okay being B or higher) and have a decent GPA. My qualm is that in one class, a Bio course, I did not do so well 🙁. Will that have any bearing?

Thanks so much!

EDIT: Actually, I found out that another course I took counts for Bio as well! Thanks!

Are you a biology major?
The minimum bio requirement is Biology 1 and Biology 2. Make sure you get Bio 2 in before you apply.

The upper levels don't count toward prereqs unless it's on their list, like Biochem is required at some schools. However, it looks good if you do well in upper level bio because it shows them that you can handle that level.

What is your overall sGPA, I think that matters more, but they may ask you come interview time why you got such and such grade.
