Hello Everyone,
This is actually my first post on this forum, I've been a silent reader but actually need some help now! I am writing my OAT in about 3 weeks and need some tips for the Biology section of the OAT. I can't find a productive or effective way to study for this section, I feel like there is A LOT of information! Any study resources that helped you guys out for the biology section? Anything you would highly recommend? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I studied for all of the OAT subjects using the Kaplan OAT book (http://www.amazon.com/Kaplan-OAT-Test-Prep/dp/1609781090), and felt that it covered most if not all of the stuff that would be tested. I think the Kaplan book had more than enough covered for the biology section. The difficult part about biology is that you can't really get too clear an idea of what specific type of questions they might asked because there is so much information, and therefore the questions are all random. For biology, you just have to review and memorize as much material as you can unfortunately.

Sorry if this is not much help. I majored in biology so I didn't dedicate too much time for studying it. For other sections though, if I ever felt like I needed more details for certain explanations, I referred back to my textbooks from undergrad. Maybe you would find it useful to refer to your different biology textbooks and notes?

This link outlines the OAT test content, including the different subjects that might be covered for the biology section (starts on page3). http://www.ada.org/~/media/OAT/Files/2014_oat_guide.ashx

Good luck!!

Hey so I just did my OAT today scored a 400 in bio. I used Kaplans blue book and professor finks videos on YouTube and some of chads bio videos. I did oat destroyer bio for practice and I guess it worked. Goodluck.

thank you both! I am working my way through the blue Kaplan book and will check our Finks and Chad's videos.

There are official and non-official out there that let you utilize a resource called quizlet. If you search through quizlet you can find flashcards for the DAT bio section. Its the same material and its good to have for those moments you are just hanging around, watching TV, etc. Hope it helps! And good luck! I majored in bio and got a 380 but the study resources helped me lots! The Kaplan book definitely covers everything you'll need, but it's a large amount of info to digest.
