Hi all,

Are these sources for the Biology section sufficient to do well considering I have been out of school for a few years and I'm only relying on DAT materials?

Kaplan course, Feralis/Cliffs (same), Chad's, Destroyer, Bootcamp tests, Qvault tables

Thanks.

For biology look at my breakdown....I scored a 28 on the bio....I think it would really help! Good Luck!

Can you send me a link to your breakdown? I don't have any prior knowledge from my classes, so I am just relying on these DAT sources. I want to do really well too. What do you recommend?

Well I don't need a lot of help in particular, I just want to make sure that the materials I am using cover everything I need to know. Because there is endless random info in Biology.

Know destroyer biology inside and out. Know the answers, know the answer key and understand all the answer choices and why they are wrong. If you do.....you will score well.

You sure? Thanks a bunch. Gosh I hate how I don't ever know if what I'm doing is good enough. I've heard the Bio section is really random, so it's not like I can know everything, unless these sources really do cover everything that will show up on the DAT. And there are so many friggin sources it took me forever to go through all of them once, especially since I have been out of school I needed to learn from scratch.

I'm being honest with you. I took the test twice....18 the first time, 28 the second time on the biology section. The biology section is really random and theres a lot of info. But destroyer does a great job of having all the important info in it.

What did you do differently the second time which caused the significant improvement? Also, i feel a sense of dissatisfaction with people saying it's so random, as if the sources don't cover everything and I will only do mediocre because I don't have prior knowledge from my classes...

Hi guys! I saw this post and decided to ask another question. Do you think I'll need to memorize the details for Bio? For example, should I know the names of the proteins in the electron transport chain? My plan is to read Ap BIO completely, but some parts are so detailed.

you most likely wont need to know all the details, for example, in glycolysis, you most likely wont need to know all the enzymes involved, but you will need to know it's being produced. and in the case of etc, again, you probably wont need to know all the proteins, except for maybe the cytochrome and ubiquinone, but you will need to know what's being used and produced.

but because bio is so random, it wont hurt if you know all the details, except there's so much to know, you will just need to prioritize. go through dat destroyer and maybe topscore and only once you are confident and have excess of time, achiever, you will have a feel of what's needed for dat. and while you are studying, use campbell, cliffs and fer's notes as your references. good luck! 🙂

I used different materials, and had to evaluate how badly I wanted dental school.....so I worked extremely hard (DAT was only thing holding me back) bio is very random I hate to say....but I'm not a genius and I got a 28 by using the sources I listed in my breakdown. You can do the same!

I don't understand what people mean when they say it is random

anything in campbell, cliff's, destroyer and any other book is fair game. but with the 3 mentioned books, they can cover 99.9% of the possible material. know everything, because anything can be asked.

Campbell's is the whole freakin textbook though. I can't read it all in addition to everything else. I have kaplan, feralis, destroyer, chads, bootcamp, Qvault tables

yeah, exactly. that's why you have to prioritize. with cliff's, fer's notes and destroyer, you will get a good mark.

Its random in a sense that there is some much that can be asked. Biology is very broad...theres only so much chemistry and orgo they can ask you about. Biology could be anything from plants, physiology, genetics, evolution etc.

Thanks for your comments. I looked at your breakdown. How are people finding the time to repeat Destroyer so many times? I can't do more than 100 problems a day when going through the Destroyer.. And it's not my only source I have to go through the others too
