Biomedical Sciences in NYMC

I keep looking for info regarding the Biomedical sciences program in NYMC. I read few post, but I still need some information.
Is it easy to get in their master programs? Are the programs good? I like the classes that they offer (I looked on their website), but I do not know anything else about the school.
I'll appreciate any information.

I was thinking about applying to this program as well. I emailed the director to see if I could find some more information. He didn't say anything about the competitivity of getting into the program, but he mentioned there were no specific prereqs (beyond premed requirements) and that many students enter with no research experience. He said graduates of the program go to med school, PhD programs, and industry careers; so it doesn't sound like it's geared totally for people that want to go into med school. I personally liked the price, evening schedule of the program, and closeness to home/family. On the other hand, from the website and schedule, it seems like you can only take biochem and physiology during the first year and have to wait for the second year to take any other classes. I think I like the variability and shorter length of some of the other postbac programs, but for other people NYMC might be a good program. It doesn't seem like there are many SDN'ers in the program; but the director responded pretty quickly to my questions, so you may want to send him an email.

From what i heard, the program is not as structured as some of the others out there. Ex: Drexel, RF,etc..

I applied but after reading this forum for the past two weeks, I no longer have any intentions of going there. It takes 2 years to get the degree and I don't think they have as much expertise as the other programs in terms of advising and helping you get into other med schools.

If you haven't already, i recommend that you look into Georgetown, BU, Loyola and RF. I've also just learned of new programs (from reading the forum) like the Johns Hopkin's one-year master and Columbia's Nutri Sci.

In addition, Tulane's masters in Cell Mol or Genetics are also worthy of consideration.
