This is so cool, I had to share!

Via NPR/AP:
"Oscar the cat may have lost one of his nine lives, but his new prosthetic paws make him the world's first bionic cat.

"After losing his two rear paws in a nasty encounter with a combine harvester last October, the black cat with green eyes was outfitted with metallic pegs that link the ankle to the foot and mimic the way deer antlers grow through skin. Oscar is now back on his feet and hopping over hurdles like tissue paper rolls." More

*sniff* OK, I don't usually tear up at these kinds of news stories, but I am /this/ close to breaking down and bawling. That's such an amazing story.
 
very cool. It'd be even cooler if we could know a little more clinically!

Holy crap! 😱 That's AMAZINGLY cool. What a fabulous vet, and what an incredibly cool cat. I mean, we all know how adaptable they are, but that's insane!

I know, right? Ten minutes after waking up and he's exploring and jumping around. I loved watching the surgeon laugh with relief and wonder... 🙂

I can't wait to read more about this. I hope Oscar thrives and the technique can be applied to others!

That is so amazing! I have to admit, the metal sticking out of his leg sorta grossed me out, but wow. And it did make me tear up.

I love on the video when he says, "I'm not going to put brown feet on a black cat."

Before actually watching the video, I had to get some tissues because based on your posts, it's a tearjerker. I just loved the part where the cat took his first few steps! I totally broke down in tears! Kudos to the veterinarian ( I hope to be like him someday) and much luck to the cat!

Awww... so awesome! Particularly when he jumped up on the toilet paper!

But, why couldn't they just make the prosthetic black. The black tape looks a little cheesy. :laugh:
