Biostatistics vs. Biochem II

I am contemplating whether to take biostatistics or biochem II. I am taking biochem I and doing well in it. Biochem II is supposed to be a "more in depth" biochem I.

So what now, biostatistics vs. biochem II?

Biochem adds to BCP. Biostats is a math class that won't help you all that much in the BCP department (which is separate from the science GPA) but it will help with your sGPA. Since it is reported as separate, I can't help but think adcoms take note of it.....

Since you said you are doing well with biochem1, biochem2 makes a whole lot of sense

I'm already in this application cycle so I'm not worrying whether it'll affect my GPA or not. Rather, I want to know which would be more useful in dental school. Is there a biostatistics class in dental school?

I'd take both but if I really had to choose it would be Biochemistry. It's not only more interesting but it's far more relevant to the dental school curriculum and the boards than Biostatistics. However, a background in statistics is necessary. You need it as a dentist to understand clinical research and to effectively evaluate the efficacy of any drug, tool, or procedure. You'll definitely need it if you plan on doing any research. You could buy either textbooks and probably learn it by yourself. At this point in our self-development as efficient students, we could probably teach ourselves any subject relevant to Biology or Chemistry.

No question about it, Biochem II all the way. I think Biochem II has helped me during my first semester of dental school more than any other undergrad course. Being well versed with metabolic pathways prior to your first semester will make your life much easier in my opinion.

Unless you plan on doing a lot of biological research, I would suggest biochem II my friend.
