Biostats vs Stats

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For the schools that require stats, can we take biostats instead? I believe it would be more useful. (Specifically Texas schools)

Depends, is it offered through the math or bio department?

"The Statistics course should be taught in a Math or Statistics Department. Individual medical schools may consider statistics courses taught in other departments on an individual basis with appropriate documentation from faculty."

Currently in a biostats class, no different from a statistics course. You just use medicine based examples. So do whatever your heart desires, the only differences is the name and possibly department that teaches it.

F@@k! Its in the science department.🙁

Yeah, sorry -I highly doubt they will take it. I tried to get "Probability and Statistics" from my BME department approved by individual Texas schools, but none were willing to accept it. As a result, I am now taking essentially the same class from the STATs department. Good luck

In our math department it's titled "ELEMENTARY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS"; even though it says elementary, it will count...right? ( I know this is a dumb question but better safe than sorry)

I don't know why it wouldn't. But, for piece of mind, go ahead and email the TMDSAS people for confirmation. I did this in December last year to confirm certain classes would meet the requirements. They need to know your school and the class #/name. Expect an answer by tomorrow.
