So I got a rather unexpected rejection letter in the mail yesterday. Not unexpected in the sense that I expected to be accepted to this particular school; unexpected because I didn't actually apply to this school. Anybody else have this happen?

Whoa, that is pretty weird. Just imagine if it had been an acceptance and you hadn't even applied!

I think you should appeal the rejection just to see what happens.

LOL. Do it!! Do it!!

Coops

what school was it by the way? i wonder how they could have gotten your information...hmm

it could be an AMCAS mixup of applications sending ur application to School X instead of School Y...make sure school Y received ur application...or it could be just that they added School X by mistake

When i was applying to schools i never got a rejection or a request for interview letter from BU (if i remember correctly).

I also had a rejection letter of a different person, literally stuck to my rejection letter. i guess that explains one way a person doesn't know that they got rejected.

You know all those official, "time sensitive" and "important, open immediately" envelopes you get in the mail that turn out to be credit card offers or whatever--what if the marketers start making them look like official medical school correspondence. I mean, dam, they could really mess with people's minds.

Last year Howard rejected me in September or so.... after classes started... I mean I knew I was rejected.... what was the point of even sending me a letter that late in the game...

Oh well....

It was Texas A&M. I suppose that they got my information from the Texas Match system. It cracked me up -- it was a really long letter saying how sorry they were, how I could apply again next year, how to improve my application (just a generic list -- not for me personally).

I really should appeal it, just to see what they'd say. Can you appeal a Texas match decision?

You know, I was thinking last night about how it's really lucky that I'm already in at a couple of schools. This would have been really depressing if I had been getting rejection letters already.

When I was applying two years ago I received a similar rejection from UNC. Talk about adding insult to injury...I had already been rejected by the two schools I actually applied to.

That is so bizarre! My best rejection story is the I got 2 rejections from U of Vermont, and they arrived a few days apart. When I got the second one I was like alright already, I get the message you don't want me!
By the way: does anyone else think it is a little condescending that they try to soften the blow with flowery language and best wishes with "future endeavors"?
