So again, will I be blacklisted, etc.? Should I even care? ........I just don't want to damage my career by screwing over a major employer that is likely well connected in the area.

Let's review Black list:
Pharmacy managers that did not do well, under-performed, got demoted to be staff or floater.
Staff pharmacists that did not do well, under-performed, got demoted to be floater.
Floaters that did not do well when in store, refused to work weekend shifts, refused to sell birth control, refused to sell abortion therapy for rape victim....
Pharmacists that argued with coworkers to the point of creating multiple meetings between Human Resources Manager, District Manager, Pharmacy Manager, every 3 months!
Pharmacist that stole 2 pills of C2 and got caught.
Pharmacist that ate before buying a bag of chip and got fired.
Pharmacists that don't answer calls when District Manager asked for help on weekend.
Intern that argued with tech and failed rotation.
Grad interns that left company before being pharmacist for another job.
Pharmacists that opened pharmacy and took most patients.
Pharmacists that worked for independent while working for chain, got caught, got fired.
Pharmacists that worked after hour, got caught, got fired (the conscientious worker that violated Labor Law.)
Pharmacists that left company after getting intensive trainings for 3 weeks.
You are somewhere in that list of Blacklist.
If the District Manager has a spouse who works as District Manager for another chain. How many stories can you share in bed?
If they do share story, would they pick the story of: "one of many grad interns left for another pharmacist job"?
What is the chance of you stuck in the mind of the story receiver? Slim chance.
Your chance of being blacklisted among chains is very very slim.
Your chance of being blacklisted inside the mind of District Manager is also slim.
When you finally leave, consider a secret many have done: giving your District Manager a small gift as token of appreciation for the friendship. I have seen gifts ranging from basket of fruit, box of chocolate, personalized hand made cards, box of pastries, Mastercard gift card of $25, gift card of $50....The selection was vastly different, depending on the mind if gift giver.
I have seen both ways: people that hate managers and people that still keep good bond with managers even years later. Even if we are not together, best to build and maintain the good bond with managers.
