so i just checked my email, low and behold i see one from NRMP without any subject.

the email is completely blank without anything in it... WTH.

playing mind tricks on me?

Never filled out the survey and didn't receive the blank email so probably not true .... just one stating they made a mistake with the first one (after which I looked and determined that there was no such email for me)

If the email/survey was not simply sent to people who had not already filled it out, then
I know I'm going to get trashed for saying this, but maybe whether or not you received that email actually does reflect something about your match status. It just seems very strange that some people received it and some didn't. The only explanations I can think of are:

1. The email/survey was sent to people who didn't match, to see why they didn't match to help provide advice for future applicants.

2. The email/survey was sent to people who matched to see what they did to increase their chances of matching.

3. The email/survey was simply sent to some random people to get a random population of applicants to answer the survey questions, or test the email service.

It also seem suspicious that it happens exactly a week from when we will actually find out.

Regardless, it is not cool to send an email like this before match results are out.

or maybe there is a person who is supposed to attach the written text to the email and had forgotten to do so... simple human error seems more likely. How many times have we forgotten to attach an important piece of document to an email only to realize the mistake later

Although I personally did not receive either of the emails today, my school sent out the following email:

The NRMP just sent an email to many students. It was supposed to have a
message on it reminding students to complete a survey, but they forgot to
include the message.

You can happily delete this message; the NRMP will send out another message
with the info later today. But just to reassure - the email was only about
completing a survey, not about your matches.

1:31pm. I really don't think it matters at all. Why worry about it until you have to though? There's only one true time to know, and that's next week!
