i just got rejected from temple.....whaa hoo! this sucks

my concerns:

the letter said, "your application could not be approved from the temple med class of 2005 and then blah blah blah.."

does that mean they couldn't verify my app or whatever? i interviewd with them last tuesday and got this letter today

i took the aug 2004 mcat and was pumped b/c this was my only interview (still the same case thus far)

so my stats:
1 interview / 1 rejection

sucks cause i'm a pennsylvania kid and temp was one of my state school and choices..

shieeot, ...probably the 'easiest' school i applied to as well

Man, that sucks. I'm sorry about Temple. How did you feel about your interview? Were you under the impression that it didn't go so well? I wouldn't hesitate to call them and ask why you weren't accepted, or at least waitlisted. I know some schools will blow you off, but some give helpful remarks. Good luck with the rest of your applications!

I just got denied by MCW post-secondary....booze anyone?

khenon,

it definetely baffles me. so you think its okay to call them and inquire? I was hesitant about that but i will go ahead and do so.

the interview actually went horrible. if you read the sdn interview remarks for temple you will see one doctor who is the devil. his name is dr. permit. everyone else who had him also thought he asked some really hard borderline ridiculous questions. after talking to them, i felt better about it and realize maybe i didn't do as bad as i thought. i mean i answered everything with confidence and without hesitation.

i'm just a little confused. my stats were ok for temple (3.6/34)

guess the first one is hard to swallow. let me know if you need anymore information.

Oh Geez! 3.6/34, AND in-state! I applied to Temple as out-of-state (3.6/23 . . . yeah, you read correctly; a 23), so I guess I just burned another $75 for no reason.

I have no doubt that you need to call them. Again, I've heard some schools just blow you off and aren't helpful at all, but some do give constructive remarks, and you could use that info for future interviews.

That really sucks about the Dr. Permit. He sounds like a real jerk. I'm so sorry you had a bad interview, and all because of a crappy interviewer. How can that be fair, if one guy is an ass, and others aren't? I've also heard people request to talk directly to their interviewers for feedback. Maybe you can request to talk to this Dr. Permit. Put HIM on the spot for once!

Well I've already gotten 4 rejections, but none of them post-interview (or post-secondary for that matter), so I know that would hurt worse. Keep your focus on your other apps, and maybe Temple can give you some contructrive remarks on your interview so you can avoid future pitfalls. Take care and good luck.

sorry much luck to you. getting into medical school is very variable...you maybe rejected from Temple but maybe accepted to UPenn...you never know. keep your chin up!

my interviewer at temple, travaline, was one of the nicest interviewers ive ever had... its just the luck of the draw... ive definately heard from many people however that their temple interviews went pretty bad because of an a-hole interviewer, so youre definately in good company.

with those stats, and your instate status, u should have a really good shot at drexel, i'll be really surprised if u dont get in there

thanks man,

i guess wierd ish happens and you can't explain it.
i hope drex lets me in, i'm not so confident anymore

i emailed and called temp, they said they will get back to me with why i got slapped around.

with your stats, i wouldnt worry at all.

This probably doesn't help, but I heard from second-hand (or third-hand) from a member of the Temple admissions committee that the interview counts for 50% of your application. Your numbers are definately competitive, but med school admissions are more than just numbers. A lot of people at my Temple interview felt the same way about that doc, (at least, I assume it was the same guy) but it seems like interviews are just the luck of the draw...

I'm sure more good stuff is coming your way....Good luck!

Sorry about the interview, but I have to say that Dr. Permut is a great guy on the wards. I know that's small comfort, but you've got great stats, I'm sure you'll do fine.
