Hi! could someone tell me what this could possibly be: 53 year old female with a bleeding throat and a little trouble breathing, she says she coughs out a little blood in the morning?

please help!

Diff. Diagnosis:
Oral/pharyngeal/tracheal/lung/esophogeal cancer
Infectious process (TB?)
aspirated blood from a ruptured esophogeal variceal vein
Emphysema
-there are probably other causes too

Is that all the info you were given, or is this based off your own history? If it's the latter, you need a few more things....what is this "trouble breathing?" is it dyspnoea? is it trouble upon exhalation? does she have trouble on inspiration? has she had pulmonary function tests? any dysphagia? any pain upon swallowing? etc etc etc.

esophageal variceles??? does bleeding occur before/after meals? certain types of food? trouble swallowing? trouble with dry or more solid foods?

it seems to me that she would be bleeding more than this if it were ruptured esophageal varicies...but what the hell do I know...I'm M1 so take my opinion with an M1-sized grain of salt.

would need more information -- but I would also consider Wegener's

First of all, what do you mean by "bleeding throat" This is not medical terminology and it could mean about 50 different things.

consider tonsillar ca. also consider doing a physical exam and taking a complete history.

I concur...what the heck is a bleeding throat?
