Hi everyone, My question isn't actually something regarding myself, but rather, it is for fictional purposes (I'm writing a book....God knows if ever it will be published, but I'm writing it anyway). I hope someone can help, cos I don't know diddly squat about anything medical. In the story, a character is given a blood transfusion. I've planned for him to go into seizure somehow and end up in a coma. I would like to know if/how a blood transfusion could result in this, and what the time scale and duration of the incident would be (from the first symptom to the time he wakes up from the coma). I have tried to research this myself, and the closest thing I can find is TRALI, although it mentions nothing about seizures or comas. Neither could it be due to mismatched blood types, as my character is AB (for various reasons I can't change the blood type). I really hope you can help, because I want to make this story as realistic as possible. Thanks!
