I think I can generally reason my way through the blood type passages, but is there anything key to know about this stuff for the mcat...any input would be appreciated.

AB+ is the universal recipient, O- is the universal donor.

Good luck,

What do you mean? The only thing you need to know about blood type is the genotype for blood. The genes for each type are:

A: IAIA or IAi
B: IBIB or IBi
AB: IAIB
O: ii

...and you have to know that i is recessive, while both IA and IB are co-dominant. Know how to cross any two blood types together. For example, a mother with type A blood and a father with type AB blood can have the following genotype children:

IAIA, IAIB, IAi, IBi [because the mother could be IAIA or IAi]

Phenotype it is: A, AB, A, B

...that's it 🙂 Good luck!
