Which technique CANNOT be used to analyze gene expression?
A. Western blotting
B. Northern blotting
C. Southern blotting
D. rtPCR

Since gene expression implies formation of a protein I was thinking that B, C, and D could be right. Why is C correct?

C can't be used because southern just detects for a DNA sequence. I think you're correct, the question stem is just asking for the one that wouldn't work.
