A few people at my practice have congratulated me, adding “now you get a raise!” which is cool, but I’m wondering: is this normal? If we’re required to get board certified, why would we get rewarded for doing what’s required? Did you get a raise? Was it automatic? I’m painfully shy and I hate asking about things like this, particularly if i’m not actually deserving of it. Thoughts?

In academics a lot of my friends get promoted from instructor to assistant professor which comes with a small raise. I work in pp I didn’t get a raise

Academic job at my own place gets a 15K raise after board certification.

A friend's job, PP, can't make partner if not board certified, but you won't lose your job, and you'll get paid the same as partners.

To be fair that 15k raise is really just a 15k cut they take from the fresh grads because they can.
