Which clinical setting would prepare a PT student for their Board exam:
a skilled nursing facility or a inpatient hospital setting?

Any thoughts would be most helpful 🙂

You need experience in all settings because the board exam expects us to be 'generalists', so we should know about multiple diagnoses and be able to treat any patient who walks in our doors.

I agree. The exam is pretty much based on all class material and clinical experiences. I would like to know if you have any suggestion for studying for the exam. I plan to take it in October. I took it two years back before leaving US, but didn't go well. I have been abroad for two years and now plan to move back. Been really nervous about studying. I started already using Giles and also have O'Sullivan. Any suggestion on how to go about it? Any kind of support would be appreciated =)

To shab12:
The advice I would give would be to take as many practice exams as you can. Take one right off the bat to see what your current knowledge level is (the practice exam in your Giles books should break everything down into how well you did in each section). Make sure the exams are spaced out enough so that you can work on your weak areas. Besides the three exams in your book there are 2 additonal exams online, plus the exams in your O'Sullivan review. The practice exams really help on your test taking endurance and concentration. Besides that have all basic concepts memorized (lab values, wound stages, levels of assist, rancho scales, etc.). Lastly, study as much as you can without burning yourself out; organize it to the method that has worked best for you previously (in a group, using flashcards, etc.).

Thank you Ry19 for your advice and time. I think last time my weakness was not taking enough exams and practicing..Also the exams do help to breakdown the weakness so I could focus on specific problems rather than just trying to keep studying the materials. Hope I can keep everything right this time and pass it..Thank you for your support..

Regards..
