i'm about to start 2nd year and was thinking of getting some board review books beforehand. i've heard that it makes studying for the boards a whole hell of a lot easier when it comes time. any suggestions on what to get and/or a good (read: cheap) place to get them? so far i'm planning on getting BRS path and physio as well as FA.

thanks!

You should search the USMLE forum on this website, as this has been discussed ad nauseum before. My personal favorites:

First Aid (obviously)
BRS Path
BRS Physio
Micro Made Ridiculously Simple
HY Neuroanatomy
HY Immunology
Katzung and Trevor's Review of Pharm (the smaller one)
others I forgot

I recommend using review books as you go along with your 2nd year classes... review books help distill the most important points (which syllabi may not)... this also gets you familiar with these books so you aren't reading new stuff for the boards. It's also a good idea to read and annotate first aid as you go along 2nd year, that way you are also familiar with first aid and get some important points in there.

Second year really sucks, by the way.... the material is better than first year, but you will hate studying with a passion by the time you take the boards. Good luck.
