board review books compilation

i see all these threads saying "whats the best review book for this subject" and also it seems not all review books are deemed equal. as such, i wanna start accumulating a master list, since SDN has done such a poor job with its books section, to see what the best review books seem to be. note: im dumb enough to list the subjects only by the classes they teach at temple. feel free to add in/drop out some of the subjects that might be covered in others. please criticize and applaud where you see fit.

Well, I think that the only consensus people are getting from this list is that both high yield and BRS produce excellent review books in just about every subject. I'd see the FAQ sticky threads in the USMLE forums if you wanted to know which book is necessary for the boards. Whether or not any of these review books are helpful for your classes is going to be course-director and test-style specific, ie it's going to be different from school to school. In general, think that these review books would be most useful in schools that use shelf exams during the pre-clinical years. For other schools, I think that it would be wise just to flip through the book in the bookstore to see if it's covering the same stuff that you are getting in class. I would purchase the books reccomended for board review in the USMLE threads, but I'd flip through the rest of the books before purchasing them for the rest of the subjects because they can oftentimes be as useless as many of your "required" textbooks are (ie you aren't being tested on them in class, and you don't need them for usmle). I personally don't think that you need a review book in every subject, your class notes should suffice in many subjects. I wrote out the books that I reccomend for step I in this thread:
