So i made the mistake of taking USMLE step II despite not feeling fully ready...and failed by 4 points :-/....no excuses whatever it was it was my fault..... I passed all 3 comlex exams on my first try and never took USMLE step I. I am applying Peds and applied 3 DO programs and 17 MD (I am limited by location). I am still showcasing and everyone seems to be very interested in me from my performance on rotations, I obviously don't want to ruin their impression by putting my USMLE grade out there. What are my odds of matching peds with good showcasing and my passing COMLEX? I don't intend on retaking the USMLE because i don't have the time now, and if I get interviews how should I even answer their questions of why i failed?
Thanks !!!!

Why would you take USMLE step II after taking all 3 comlex exams? And you're not applying for Peds? Are you an intern now? Something doesn't make sense..

Yes i meant i passed comlex I, II, and PE, and I AM applying peds, i'm currently a fourth yr.

I'm not sure what you mean by limited by location and still managing to apply to 20 places. Is it an SO, family, weather, etc.? Can you manage for 3 years in a location that may not be ideal and then return to where you want/need to be?

I'm choosing to stay close to both my family and fiance and I want to later work in the same region so it's actually fine regarding where I am applying, just limiting myself from the MANY other peds programs in the country is all I meant..... I am just trying to see if I can find someone in a similar situation regarding boards and see how they did during the application/match process so I know what to expect.
