hey all..
It's obvious that the ABSITE is important.
just wondering if someone could shed some light on whether program directors for the independent match weed out applications based on USMLE board scores for Step1/2/3 before even considering applications since SF Match applications are viewable online.
any insight? if so, what kind of cutoff?

I don't think they're terribly important once you've gotten an interview. More for screening purposes. Out of 7 interviews, I was only asked about my inservice scores once, and it wasn't even really a question ("I was impressed with your inservice scores - how does your program prepare you for the ABSITE?").

We pay attention to ABSITE scores more than USMLEs, but we've seen several people who have failed Step 3. Don't do that. While it's OK to just pass the exam, don't neglect a bit of basic preparation.
