Why do so many schools keep their avg board scores secret?
I have asked several schools what their average score on USLME step 1 and only one school wished to share it with me (this includes some top rated schools). They will normally cite that their avg is at or above the nationally avg/pass rate, etc, etc....

blah!

I'm guess avg board scores aren't listed anywhere?

what is a good %pass rate?

i'm not sure what to expect. i havent had any problems in the past, so i suppose i shouldn't worry. I think I am mostly just curious as to how a particular group of students do? Would % pass rate be a sign of the quality of the school & its curriculum or a sign of the quality of students at the schoool?

I asked the same question on the pre-allo board yesterday. I got some good responses. The title of the post was "Board pass rates"

Why do you care what the board pass rate is? They don't mean much in terms of quality of education/school. All US schools will provide you with a quality education. period. Board scores are determined by how well you do in school, how hard you study, what you know... NOT by the school you enter. Just because you go to Harvard you don't automatically score a 230 step 1 minumum score. Every year you'll always find several students at Harvard or Yale (or any other 'top ranked' school for that matter) with low scores around 190-200s and you'll also find several students at 'low ranked' schools who crushed the boards with 250-260s. The students with the top scores obviously learned alot more and are more knowledgeable than the students w/ below average scores. Don't worry about board averages for schools! Worry about your own when the time comes!
